GPS-enabled meters and printed receipts in all autos!

If plans get executed as expected, auto rickshaw drivers in Chennai will have to ply by GPS-enabled meters and provide printed receipts for their passengers in 6 months from now.
Persuading the move, the Madras high court has sought for the timeframe within which meters with printers and GPS will be given out to auto rickshaws in Tamil Nadu for which the state government has told that the tender for procurement of adequate number of meters will be rolled out on 7th of October. A time period of 6 months will be given for the bidder to execute the project.
A contempt of court proceedings was initiated by a bench against official involved in this for having disobeyed the order issued on 31th of October 2014. The order had laid down 8 directions including fare revision based on fuel charges, toll-free number for filing complaint, display of details of driver or owner.
A counter-affidavit was filed by the government on Monday which states GPS-based meters will be fixed in all auto rickshaws in another six months
After almost a year long campaign, an announcement about fare structure for auto rickshaws was made on 25th of August 2013. However, this did not bring any revision of fares despite downfall of petrol prices from Rs 74.49 per litre to Rs 61.46 now.
