Army wins vote in Myanmar

The ruling military junta has won majority in Myanmar after MPs voted to retain the army’s veto over constitutional changes. The vote resulted in a blow for Nobel Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi.
Ms. Suu Kyi was in the running for Presidency. Her party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), will contest in the upcoming elections and is expected to have a landslide win. The NLD won elections in 1990 but the army chose to overrule the result and had Ms. Suu Kyi placed under house arrest.
