Car sales within the country up by 8%!

During the month of May 2015, sales of cars in India have increased by 8% for a total sales of 160067.
The corresponding sales figure for the last year was 148577.
The sales of motorcycles during the month of May went down by 3% to 953322. The corresponding figure last year was 988210.
Sales of all types of 2-wheelers have come down by 1.25% to 1380950.
However, sales commercial vehicles went up by 4% to 48841.
Combing all vehicles together, sales during May have come down by 0.58% from 1693740 to 1683962.
During 2014, export sales of multi-purpose vehicles were up by 125% to 72603.
In the domestic market, sales of multi-purpose vehicles were up by 2.07% to 5.47 lakhs.
Indian Motor Vehicles’ Manufacturing Association has informed that the basis of this rise in export of multi-purpose vehicles was basically due to Ford’s Echo sport & Maruthi’s Ertica.
