BSNL to provide 3G and 4G Wi-Fi hotspots across India

Telecom operator BSNL is all set to invest Rs 7000 crore towards setting up Wi-Fi hotspots with 3G and 4G integration across the country. This process is estimated to run through two to three years, say company officials. Wi-Fi is definitely going to be a milestone in BSNL services, but this needs 3G and 4G integration to be successful. This will involve investment of Rs 7000 crore to set up the necessaries, said Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, Anupam Shrivatava while addressing the TeleAnalysis.
It is to be noted that such Wi-Fi service is already on at Varanasi which is further set to get expanded to other places of the country. Shrivatava promises to make available such Wi-Fi hotspots in about 2500 places across the country. The telecom provider has joined hands with QuadGen Wireless to set up these hotspots, and the two are working out a revenue sharing model, to note.
BSNL is fully equipped for providing instant bandwidth. We’ll take care of the procedures to set up the hotspot, whereas BSNL will provide the bandwidth for the same, says Founder and Chairman of QuadGen Wireless, C.S.Rao. He also added that over 1000 such hotspots will be set up by the June 2015 which will raise to 5000 by the end of the year.
