JOB FAIR BY DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION IN MADURAI SOON

The district administration plans to conduct a job fair to facilitate placement for unemployed youths in industries and commercial establishments, said Collector C. Kamaraj here on Friday.
Speaking to the press , he said that preliminary meetings with representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA), Tamil Nadu Food grains Merchants` Association, among other trade and commerce bodies, suggested that there were at least 1,000 vacancies in many small and medium enterprises. The number might even be higher. “We have sought details of the exact number of vacancies from the prospective employers. The General Manager of District Industries Centre (DIC) has been entrusted with the task of coordinating the exercise,” he added.
Units in industrial estates, situated in and around the city, which had vacancies, may also send the details of their requirements to the DIC. Based on them, we would inform the aspirants through the media. This would help the right persons to approach the right firms, Mr. Kamaraj said.
As a first step, we will create a data base from the inputs of all the organizations and after categorizing them, the fair would be organised. More importantly, the fair would be held in as many locations as possible so that the aspirants would have a wide choice.
Representatives, who attended the preliminary meeting with the Collector, said that such an initiative would help fill vacancies in many industrial establishments and also provide a platform for the unemployed youths to have an idea as to which would be ideal for them.
There should be at least 4,000 to 5,000 vacancies in different categories for technical/non-technical, skilled and semi-skilled, graduates and postgraduates with computer knowledge in many establishments, they said
