AICTE NORMS SHOULD RULE:COURT

The Madras high court has ruled that AICTE regulation 2006 should be applied for extension of approval, additional intakes and introduction new courses. As per AICTE regulations 2006 August 31 ,2009 was last date for filing applications for the new, additional courses, additional intakes for the  academic year. - 2010-2011. New rules will govern the approvals applicable for 2011 onwards.

Justice V. Dhanapalan said while disposing of the petitions that the college can opt for new regulations, which will be applicable only from 2011. He upheld the AICTE [Grant of Approval for technical education], regulation 2010, and striking down the  one clause 11.1 which contemplated civil and criminal action against institutions, which he held was ultra wires of the AICTE act 1987 and with out authority of law.
