South-west Monsoon to start on 5th June

Meteorological Department of India has announced that the South-west monsoon will start on 5th June.
Though it is well known that North-east monsoon brings more rains to the region of Tamil Nadu, Chennai Meteorological Department has informed that this region will get more rains from South-west monsoon this year as compared to other regions.
Deputy Director, Mr. S. P. Thambi informed:
South-west monsoon season is from June to September. It starts with rains in the South-west part of India, Kerala. It gradually moves interior and rains are expected from the 2nd week of July in other parts.
The south-west parts of the state of Tamil Nadu are expected to have more rains.
