DESALINATION PLANT AT NEMMELI

Foundation stone for establishing 100 Million Litres per day
desalination plant at Nemmeli has been laid by the Deputy Chief Minister M K
Stalin on Tuesday. Announcing on the
occasion Stalin said that the plant is scheduled to be operational by December,
2011. 40 acre site chosen has been taken
on thirty year lease by Chennai Metro Water from Alavander Trust under the
control of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, the owners of
the land. The Union Government has already released Rs 300 Crores out of total
grant of Rs 871 Crores
