However, experts say the temperature level will remain normal, though it would undoubtedly be burning the skin!

It was 34.1 degree Celsius yesterday at Nungambakkam, Chennai. In Meenambakkam, it was recorded to be 34.1 degree Celsius. These two together reversed the downward trend which Chennai had in the past week. The very maximum temperature of the city last week, up to Friday was 37.1 and 37.6 degree Celsius at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam respectively. It then got reduced further on Saturday and arrived the bottom level of 34.2 degree Celsius and 35.4 degree Celsius at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam. On Sunday, the maximum temperature hit was 34.0 and 34.8. Those were then 33.7 and 34.4 on Monday.

Speaking to the deputy general of the regional meteorological centre in Chennai, S.B.Thambi, he said till May, the peak of summer, a steady increase in temperature is expected. There may be minor variations in degree; however the city will for sure have raised levels of temperatures henceforth up to the end of severe summer.
