Special buses have commenced operation to facilitate citizens traveling to their hometowns for voting in the elections, starting yesterday. Today, 30,000 individuals have made reservations.
Transport department officials reported that 10,214 buses, including special ones, are in service across Tamil Nadu ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. These buses began operating on April 17. Notably, 2,621 special buses are scheduled to run statewide, with 684 from Chennai.
Similar to festive seasons, buses are operating from five locations, including temporary bus stands in Chennai.
With elections set for tomorrow (April 19), 2,692 special buses are planned for Tamil Nadu, including 777 from Chennai, today. Over 30,000 reservations have been made statewide, with 17,000 from Chennai alone.
Preparedness includes arrangements for those planning sudden trips back to the city by April 21. On Sunday, more than 24,000 people made bookings.
