IIT Madras Launches Mobile Medical Device Calibration Facility to Boost Healthcare Access

Under its Anaivarukkum IITM initiative, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has launched India`s first `medical devices calibration facility on wheels.`

V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT-M, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, "Accurate calibration of medical devices is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment."

He further added, "With rising calibration costs, this effort not only reduces expenses but also saves on transportation time and costs. It`s a step towards affordable, scalable, quality healthcare for all."

The release from IIT-M highlighted, "Maintenance and quality assurance of life-saving medical devices are paramount. Calibration ensures accuracy for precise diagnosis and treatment effectiveness."

This mobile facility aims to provide pervasive quality healthcare nationwide, including rural areas, aiding in testing and maintaining medical devices at hospitals` doorsteps.

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, promoting health and well-being for all.

Equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, the mobile unit ensures compliance with international standards for testing medical devices` safety and functionality.
