Greater Chennai Corporation Implements Speed Breaker Overhaul in Response to Safety Concerns!
In response to last month`s initiative to identify improperly marked speed breakers, the Greater Chennai Corporation is now installing new speed breakers along newly established bus routes. The corporation is also actively removing uneven or unnecessary speed breakers at specific junctions that do not adhere to standardized norms.
A special drive was launched last month to address unmarked speed breakers within city limits. Due to ongoing projects by CMRL and the metro water department, adjustments to speed breakers are necessary in certain areas. Additionally, changes in bus routes have led to the installation of new speed breakers along interior roads.
Officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation state that they are regularly removing irregular speed breakers while also ensuring proper marking and maintenance of existing ones. Following the formation of a committee by the Chennai City Traffic Police, chaired by the Joint Commissioner (South), the laying of speed breakers now requires clearance from this committee.
Maintenance efforts are underway in response to complaints about speed breakers. Furthermore, the laying of new speed breakers is contingent upon obtaining a no objection certificate from the City Traffic Police.
