Various foods like quinoa, avocado, broccoli etc are very famous these days and they would provide us with numerous health benefits etc. The shocking truth is that these foods were unknown to many people in the 1990s

The factors like globalization and marketization has been responsible for these unknown foods to become popular now. It is worth mentioning here that most of these foods were imported from foreign nations and due to that many did not know about these foods.

These below mentioned foods were not known in the 90’s but have become highly popular now.

Avocados:
Not many know about avocados and it is seen mostly growing in southern India. This super food is rich in mono-saturated and polyunsaturated fats along with fibre, potassium, magnesium etc. It also has vitamins B2, B3 and B8 etc also. This fruit was introduced in the 20th century in Indian markets and later on this fruit became very popular with the people.

Oats:
It is known to us that oats are full of vitamins, minerals plus fibres and antioxidants etc. By eating oats, we could feel full for a longer period of time. We would be able to make any dish with oats and due to this reason it is called a superfood.

Quinoa:
Quinoa has high protein content and hence it is regarded as the best super food. It was cultivated in countries like Peru, Bolivia etc. It is rich in fibres and antioxidants etc. The superb piece of information is that Rajasthan has also started to cultivate quinoa.

Couscous:
It must be noted that couscous belongs to northern Africa. There is a common belief that couscous is a grain but the fact is that the pasta is prepared from semolina and wheat flour. Not many knew about couscous in the 90’s as it was not found commonly anywhere. Intake of couscous would help us to control blood sugar levels plus lower cholesterol levels etc.

Muesli:
This food was not known to many in the 90’s and it was only in the 20th century when it was imported to India the people started to consider muesli as breakfast cereal. It is known that museli is a cold oatmeal dish based on rolled oats and ingredients like nuts, grains etc. By consuming muesli our bowel, brain and bone health etc would improve.

Olive oil:
Olive oil was unknown to many in the 90s. It must be noted that olive oil is a liquid fat obtained from olives. It was earlier used for massaging the babies and only in the 20th century Indians came to understand the true potential of olive oil. Olive oil is rich in healthy mono-saturated fats, antioxidants, has anti-infnflammatory properties etc.

Broccoli:
In the 90s, broccoli (a type of cruciferous vegetable) was considered as an exotic vegetable and is one of the most imported vegetables in India. It has got lots of vitamins and minerals and would improve our heart health, eye health, support hormonal balance etc. Fact is that this vegetable is easy to make and has very few calories.
