Parents can use these superb tips to prevent their kids from becoming obese in their childhoods!!

Around us, we normally see kids of varying sizes and shapes!!

Some kids would have normal body weight while other kids would have excess body weight. Eating too much foods and not doing any exercises could lead to obesity in the kids and this is termed as childhood obesity. Other reasons for childhood obesity are hormones and genes etc.

Depending upon the age and height, the child or kid must have certain weight only and if the kid has more than the normal or healthy body weight then he or she is said to be obese. The shocking fact is that childhood obesity would result in many health issues like asthma, sleep apnea, bone based issues, diabetes and heart based issues at a younger age itself. The obese child would face harassment from other kids of their age groups and this might lead to depression in these kids. It is the duty of the parents to decide what foods they must give and what foods they must avoid for their kids to be healthy.

Various ways by which parents can avoid their child becoming obese are

By giving more nutritious foods:
Parents must make sure that their kid eats nutritious foods like whole grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables etc. It is important not to focus on weight loss because the body of kids is developing. It is better to give home based foods for the child as they provide a well balanced diet. To reduce the excess body weight of the kid, making them follow a diet is not advisable.

By not giving junk foods:
It is natural that kids eat junk foods like salty chips or sugary drinks etc. The parents must make sure that these junk foods are not stored. If these junk foods are not completely eliminated then atleast parents can put these foods out of reach of their kids.

By not allowing kids to watch TV while eating:
It has been brought to light by some research studies that kids consume more foods while watching television. It is true that eating while watching TV could result in mindless eating in both kids as well as in adults.

By making sure that kids are not stagnant for long time:
Children like to spend more time on the couch. It must be noted that the parents must ensure that their kids do not spend much time on the couch.  Parents must manage the schedules of their kids in such a way that they complete the homework, and get involved in household activities too. The kids must not be allowed to spend a lot of time watching television or mobile phones etc. It is important that kids do not remain stagnant for long.

By making physical activity compulsory:
Every day, for atleast one hour, kids must be e involved in some forms of physical activity. The kids can do running, jogging, skipping or involve in sports like badminton, cricket etc. Other activities like dancing, learning martial arts, Zumba and trekking etc could also be beneficial for the kids.
