From time to time, every one of us overeats or consumes excess amounts of food. That is consuming more calories than the body uses in a day. This is not healthy and we must stop this immediately. Excess eating or over eating is an issue that is present across the world. Over-eating would negatively affect our body. Over eating would create issues in the fitness of a person and he or she might get issues like obesity, weight gain etc. People find it tough to avoid overeating. Various issues we could get by overeating are abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea and discomfort etc.

We can avoid overeating in these ways.

By eating slowly:
It is possible to stop the habit of overeating by eating slowly. By eating the food slowly and in small portions, the brain would get more time to process that the stomach is full. Body would get a signal to stop eating the food. Timer could be set or by taking deep breaths after each bite would be superb.

By reducing stress:
Stress can lead to several health issues in us. It can also lead to overeating. When a person eats during stress then he or she might become obese and could gain weight. Reducing stress is very crucial. Doing yoga, meditation etc can help us to be free from stress.

By limiting alcohol intake:
Truth is that a person would eat more after consuming alcohol. Alcohol would increase the appetite and we would eat more due to this.

By staying hydrated:
Drinking sufficient amounts of water per day is essential. This would prevent us from becoming dehydrated. It is true that dehydration could lead to excess intake of food or over eating. It is preferable to drink water instead of other fluids as water intake would not make us consume calories.

By tracking the food consumed:
Diet tracking apps could play an important role here. By using these apps, it is possible for us to track what we eat and when we eat etc. Daily calorie intake can also be checked.

By limiting distractions while eating:
Many of us have the habit of talking over mobile or watching TV etc while eating. This could lead to overeating. The tracking of foods we eat would not be possible by doing simultaneous activities. 

By avoiding stocking up with favourite foods:
This is also one important way to stop overeating. With several foods available, we might be tempted to eat more. It is advised not to stock the refrigerator with favourite foods.  

By eating protein rich foods:
Foods that are rich in proteins would keep us full for a long period of time. By this, we should not eat more or we can avoid over eating.
