The chill or cold climate during the winter seasons could be both superb for many people and irritating for some people!!

In some persons during winters, there would be some red itchy scaly patches present mostly on their knees, elbows, trunk etc. This is psoriasis which is a type of skin disease. Autoimmune diseases would occur in us due to abnormal immune response to normal body parts and psoriasis is also a type of autoimmune disease.

There is no cure to psoriasis but it can be managed by following certain tips. In some seasons, this skin issue flares up and then it would subside. It is true that the person would feel depressed and sad when this happens. Truth is that when he or she finds one therapy unsuccessful in treating this issue they turn to other types of treatment also.

When a person has this issue then he or she must compulsorily avoid certain foods such as sugary cereals, nightshade plants, dairy products, processed foods etc.

Various methods that would help a person to manage his or her psoriasis issue in winter season are

By moisturizing:
The air would be chilly in the winter season and it would deprive the skin of essential moisture. It is possible to prevent any itchiness or reddishness by keeping the skin well moisturised. While taking a bath, it would be good to use soap or shower gel that is free from chemicals etc. This must be followed by a moisturiser. Raw aloe vera gel or olive oil or coconut oil could be used as moisturiser.

By drinking water:
Dry skin could be due to lack of enough water consumption. It is important that a person must drink atleast 8 glasses of water every day. It is common that the majority of us do not drink water in the winter season due to lack of thirst etc. Not drinking enough water could also result in accumulation of toxins. This might flare up the psoriasis issue.

By bathing everyday:
Instead of a hot water bath, it would be good to have a warm water bath. The reason for this is that taking a hot water bath would rob the skin of its natural moisture and oils etc. After doing heavy work throughout the day, the person could immerse in a bath tub with warm water with Epsom or finely ground oatmeal powder in it. Scrubbing the dead skin away once in a while would be superb.

By wearing appropriate clothes:
This is also one way to manage psoriasis issues effectively in the winter season. During winters the decrease in the temperature could lead to flare ups of psoriasis issue. To protect the skin from the cold climate, it is essential to wear a soft scarf, gloves and sweater etc while going out in the winter season.
