These foods could safeguard us from the effects of air pollution

Air pollution is considered as one of the serious issues and it is increasing is a known fact. It is important to mention that one cannot escape from this air pollution. When harmful substances like gases or particulates etc are introduced into the earth’s atmosphere then air pollution takes place. Air pollution could cause diseases, allergies or death also so we must not take it lightly about air pollution. By wearing masks or staying indoors we could avoid air pollution.

Various health issues that air pollution could cause are:

Particulate matter and other pollutants enter in us when we breathe polluted air. This could cause issues like chronic bronchitis, asthma, heart diseases, lung cancer plus issues like coughing, wheezing etc.

There are few foods that could be consumed by us so that we could get protection from air pollution.

Intake of olive oil:

Our lung functions could be improved by the vitamin E present in olive oils. Inflammation could be lowered by the fatty acids in olive oil. It is known that air pollution could lead to certain cardiovascular effects and this could be prevented by the intake of olive oil. By adding olive oil to salads or dishes it could be consumed by us.

 Intake of flax seeds:

These flax seeds provide us many health benefits is known. It is said that the presence of phytoestrogens and omega-3 fatty acids in flax seeds are fabulous in lowering the symptoms of asthma, allergy etc. It must be taken into account that flax seeds are regarded as one of the best foods to protect us from air pollution.

Intake of nuts:

Nuts like cashews, walnut, almonds are fantastic and these nuts would help in the heart health. Inflammation of the arteries gets reduced by intake of nuts.

Intake of avocado, spinach etc:

It has been shown by the studies that intake of foods like avocado and spinach etc could increase the levels of vitamin E in us. This could help us in fighting against lung issues like asthma etc due to air pollution.

Intake of tomatoes:

Mostly used in making many dishes, tomatoes could protect us from the air pollution effects. The antioxidant lycopene present in the tomatoes gives us protection against many respiratory illnesses.                

Intake of legumes:

The antioxidants plus other nutrients like proteins, fibres in legumes like beans etc could protect the heart from harmful effects of air pollution. Hence the consumption of legumes is important.
