Tubular pregnancy is full of risk!

Posted on: 17/Jul/2014 4:48:38 PM
Generally, pregnancy occurs when the woman’s ovum & the man’s sperm combine. The pregnancy tube carries this to the womb where the baby starts growing. This is  the healthy process of pregnancy.

However, if there are infections in the pregnancy tube or damaged, there are possibilities that the foetus may not be carried to the womb and get blocked in the pregnancy tube itself where it begins to grow.

With the pregnancy tube being very narrow, growth might be inhibited and there are possibilities of the pregnancy tube to burst within 40 to 70 days.

Sometimes, the foetus may rot inside the pregnancy tube. This is also dangerous for the mother. Even though pregnancy might be confirmed through urine tests, whether the foetus is the womb can be confirmed only after 38 to 45 days.

Blood tests & scanning can be done to confirm if the pregnancy is in the tube. Otherwise, all other usual symptoms such as stoppage of menstrual cycle, vomiting, or fainting will occur even during tubular pregnancy.

The infant growing in the pregnancy tube cannot be saved. And allowing its growth is harmful for the mother. So, this growth has to be stopped by injections or tablets. The foetus can be taken out through an operation and the pregnancy tube can be saved.

If some women have seriously damaged pregnancy tubes, the tube itself has to be removed. Since only one of the 2 tubes is being removed, no need for any alarm about not getting pregnant again. One tube is sufficient to conceive!
