Do women get symptoms of heart attack?

Posted on: 07/Jul/2014 2:15:25 PM
In general, we believe that women are not likely to get heart attacks. The truth is that women do suffer from heart attacks. However, there are no symptoms for the same.

A research indicates that the there are no symptoms for heart attacks for women.

The medical research, conducted in Washington, indicates that women do not even realise the effect of heart attack. It informs that if the heart attack is severe, and then if it is confirmed, then only medical treatment can be administered.

Generally, the medical practitioners administer their treatment based on the symptoms felt by the patient. As such, if the symptoms of heart attack are not felt by the women, the doctors may not be able to detect the instance of heart attack

Pain on the upper back, vomiting, difficulty in breathing, blocking of breath, and indigestion are considered as some of the symptoms experienced by women before the onset of heart attack.

Although it is a fact the incidence of heart attacks on women is lesser as compared to men, there are many instances where proper treatment for the heart attack is not given because of the absence of any symptoms, leading to deaths. The research also indicates that there are possibilities that some symptoms might have appeared long before the onset of heart attack.

The research strongly recommends that the patient, if having a heart attack, should be carried immediately in an ambulance for immediate intensive care. Only this action can save the life!

As per this phenomenon, both the patients and the doctor cannot possibly detect the onset of heart attacks and come to know about it rather late. This late treatment leads to loss of lives on many occasions.
