The states sub-registrar offices and its officials believe installation of biometric scanners and cameras inside their office can bring transparency and reduce the number of fraudulent land deals. During November 2013, the government launched this system across the state, aiming at enhancing e-governance. It is said that the system is helpful in speeding up the registration process when the necessary documents are kept in order.
Speaking to officials at registration department, they told the registrations made are recorded using Internet Protocol cameras (IP cameras). These can, in any necessary case, be monitored at zonal offices or office of inspector general of registration. The biometric scanner here will contain finger impressions of buyers and sellers. The finger print detail and photograph will be issued in a CD (compact disc) format. Desiga Doraisingh Chella Nachiyar, a former headmistress of Bentinck Girls Higher Secondary School said she is able to finish the work within just fifteen minutes using the governments advanced technology.
