Superb news!! Spiritual tour arranged for senior citizens to Arupadai Veedugal of Lord Murugan!!

The important piece of news is that the Hindu Religious Charities Dept has decided to take 200 senior citizens or elders on a spiritual tour to the Arupadai Veedu of Lord Murugan on 28th of January 2024. This would be in the first phase. For this spiritual tour, senior citizens above the age of 60 can apply from today.

On Wednesday, 10th January 2024, the Hindu Religious Charities minister Mr. PK. Sekarbabu inaugurated the Pongal gift scheme for 2646 retired priests and temple workers etc at the Commissioner`s office in Nungambakkam in Chennai. He distributed a cheque of Rs 1000. After this, a consultation meeting took place regarding organising a spiritual tour for the senior citizens to the Arupadai veedugal of Lord Murugan.

The department of Hindu Religious Charities has taken a new initiative of organising darshan at Arupadai veedu of Lord Murugan for 200 senior citizens ( between age 60 and 70)as the senior citizens have been finding it difficult to visit Arupadai veedugal  like Thiruparangundram, Thiruchendur, Palani, Swamimalai, Tiruttani and Pazhamudircholai. In other words, the Hindu Religious Charities are trying to take the 200 senior citizens to these 6 Lord Murugan temples free of cost for 5 times that is a total of 1000 devotees.

In the first phase, a spiritual tour would begin on 28th January 2024. The application forms for this spiritual tour can be downloaded from the Hindu Religious Charities website from today, 11th January 2024. In the initial round, 200 eligible senior citizens would be taken on the spiritual tour. Later on, other eligible senior citizens would be given priority for the subsequent spiritual tours.

It has been decided by the Hindu Religious Charities that this year about 300 senior citizens would be taken to Rameswaram-Kasi spiritual journey. An amount of Rs 75lakhs has been provided as subsidy by the TN govt for the spiritual tour purpose.

It is worthy to note that in Palani a plan has been implemented to provide food for 10000 devotees daily for 10days during the important Thaipusam festival.

The minister Mr. P.K. Sekar Babu later spoke about how a meeting would be conducted and a decision would be taken regarding cancellation of the special darshan fee for Thaipusam festival in Arupadai veedugal.

The event saw the participation of department secretary Mr. Manivasagam, Hindu Religious Charities special duty officer Mr. J. Kumaraguruparan, Commissioner Mr. K. V. Muralidharan, assistant commissioner Mr. A. Shankar and others.
