Shocking revelation about the COVID booster dose in TN

On Friday, the administration of free Covid booster doses at various government centres ended. It was revealed that in the age groups 18 to 59 just 10.9% have only shown interest to receive the booster doses. Across the state of Tamil Nadu, just 21.38% of the eligible population have received the Covid booster dose till now. This was pointed out by the data from the Directorate.
It must be remembered that in the month of July 2022, the Central govt has announced the administration of free booster doses for 75 days to all persons aged 18 and above at the government vaccination centres. Point to be noted is that till then booster dose was available only for healthcare workers, front line workers and those above 60 years of age and paid vaccination was available at many private centres for the public. This was mentioned by Dr. Selvavinayagam. Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He spoke about how 60 plus persons would get free booster doses every Wednesday at all the govt institutions.
The highest coverage of booster vaccination was in the 60 plus age category. Fact is that almost 74% have received free booster doses. It must be noted that the free booster dose coverage is below 50 percent with respect to healthcare workers and frontline workers etc.
