The spread of Monkeypox infection has been creating panic now across the world as many cases of Monkeypox have been reported by several countries. In this scenario, the health secretary of TN Mr. J. Radhakrishnan has asked the district collectors and GCC Commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi to report any suspected cases or confirmed cases in the state of TN.

It must be noted that the health facilities must identify and suspected cases of people with unexplained rashes on them and those persons who have travelled in the last 21 days to a country that has recently confirmed/suspected cases of Monkeypox infection. The health facilities must also report contact with a person or people with those with confirmed or suspected Monkeypox infection.

At the designated healthcare facilities, all such cases must be isolated and all such patients must report to the Digital Surveillance Officer of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme. While treating any patient with this infection, all the infection control practices must be followed. In cases of suspicion of Monkeypox, lab samples consisting of fluid from vesicles, blood, sputum etc must be sent to NIV Pune for testing. Mr. J. Radhakrishnan finally hinted that in the detection of any positive case contact tracing must be initiated immediately
