Posted on: 04/Apr/2022 9:34:11 AM
Chennai residents can go to any public place like the cinema theatres, places of worship, malls, markets etc as they wish even if they are not vaccinated also!!

In the month of November 2021 the government had issued a notification stating that persons who visit the public place must be vaccinated compulsorily. The latest news is that now there is no need to be vaccinated to visit the public places in Chennai.

It is worthy to mention here that in the notification issued dated 18th November 2021 under the TN Public Act the government has mandated the public to carry vaccination certificates if they wished to visit places like markets, theatres, hotels etc in Chennai.  On Sunday, 3th April 2022 instructions issued to the Deputy Director of Health Services or DDHS took into account the reduction in the number of Coronavirus infection cases in TN and also the vaccination coverage. Point is that in TN 92percent of the population have received the first dose of vaccination and 75 percent have received both the doses. This is with respect to those eligible persons above the age of 18.

Dr. T.S Selvavinayagam, Director  of Public Health and Preventive Medicine , has given instructions to all DDHS in the districts, health officer belonging to GCC and corresponding public health authorities belonging to other local bodies to make sure that the public were encouraged to follow Covid-19 protocols like wearing facemasks, maintaining social distancing and washing hands regularly etc. Information is that the officers were asked to create awareness about the vaccination plus encourage more persons to come forward to get vaccinated.
