Justice P. Sadasivam is 40th Chief Justice of India

Madras born Justice P. Sadasivam was sworn as the 40th Chief Justice of India (CJI) by President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday morning.
Justice Sadasivam was sworn in at a brief function, at the Durbar Hall in Rashtrapathi Bhavan, that was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice President Hamid Ansari, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley, NDA Working Chairperson L K Advani, CPI leader D Raja, among others.
He takes over from Justice Althamas Kabir who served at the CJI for over nine months.
