Thiruvannamalai District Administration has banned the devotees/public to undertake the traditional ‘girivalam’ on the Full Moon Day – in this instance, on 24th & 25th June.

Thiruvannamalai District Administration has been banning the undertaking of girivalam by the devotees right since March 2020 as a preventive measure against the raging resurgent coronavirus pandemic.

In this situation, the Full Moon Day for June commences from 3.10 AM on Thursday (24th June) and concludes at 12.55 AM on the next day (Friday, 25th June).

If the devotees are allowed to undertake girivalam covering a distance of 14 km in the above timings, the prospects of the spread of the resurgent coronavirus pandemic is very high!

Hence, the Collector of Thiruvannamalai District P. Murugesh has appealed to the public/devotees NOT TO UNDERTAKE GIRIVALAM DURING THE ABOVE PERIOD.
