Yes, in the future flying taxis would be transporting the people from one place to another at high speeds of around 200kmph. In addition, the travel would be economical and eco-friendly also. Sounds unbelievable right!!
The ePlane Company has assured that this would happen. It is worthy to note that this IIT-M incubated startup has developed an electric flying taxi for urban commuting.
By these flying taxis, the public could go to their destination 10 times faster and the journey would be safer, economical, noise free and eco-friendly. Two passengers would be able to travel in the battery powered flying taxi that would have a capacity of 200kg. In July 2021, a scaled down version of the taxi with 50kg payload capacity would be subjected to various tests and in early 2022 the final prototype would be ready. These flying taxis would be minimising the traffic plus the time spent on commute.
According to professor Satya Chakravarthi, co-founder and CTO, the plane powered by lithium-ion batteries would have a vertical take off and landing and it would be operated by a pilot.
He then spoke about how these flying taxis would fly around 0.5 to 2km altitude and would have speeds around 200kmph. The taxi would be doing 10 to 20 trips covering a total of 200kms.It is superb to note that these flying taxis would be able to cover a distance of 10km in just 10 minutes of time.
