More than 9500 buses to be operated to bring people who have gone to their native places to Chennai

To help the people to return back to Chennai after Pongal, the state transport undertakings would operate as many as9543 buses. There would be 15270 buses totally that would help the people to return back to their places.
It was later brought out by an official release from the state transport department that for the benefit of the passengers who had visited to their native places the state transport corporations would operate 9543 buses to Chennai city from various places in TN. It added that 5727 buses would be operated to other destinations from 17th January to 19th January.
From 11th January to 14th January, as many as 5.06lakhs of passengers have travelled on 10276 buses to their native places for the Pongal festival. It must be taken into account that till now 1.22lakh passengers have booked their tickets. Information is that out of these 45275 tickets were booked for the journey from Chennai and the rest 77325 tickets booked from other places of destinations.
The state transport corporations have added an amount of Rs 5.46 crores as revenue through the reservation of tickets. It is important to mention that the state transport minister Mr. M.R. Vijayabhaskar had ordered operation of buses adhering to Covid-19 precautions and this included wearing facemasks, maintaining social distancing etc. Truth is that 100%occupancy was allowed in the buses. To reduce the traffic at CMBT in Chennai, buses were operated from 5 bus terminals like Madhavaram, Tambaram, K.K. Nagar, Poonamallee, and CMBT.
There would be buses to places like Nagapattinam, Velakanni, Trichy, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Salem, and Coimbatore from the Koyambedu Bus terminus. From the Madhavaram bus terminus, there would b e buses going to places like Ponneri, Gummidipoondi, Uthukottai via Red Hills.
There would be buses operated from the K.K. Nagar bus terminus to places like Puducherry, Cuddalore and Chidambaram via ECR.
