The new strain wont affect the effectiveness of the vaccines that are being developed

The new strain from the United Kingdom has been grabbing the attention of many now. Many across the world are worried about this new mutant strain that could spread faster than the already present Covid-19 infection.
The heath experts belonging to TN were of the opinion that there might not be any impact of this new mutant strain on the effectiveness of the vaccines that are being developed now. Currently, trials of 2 Covid-19 vaccines are being undertaken in TN is well known to us. It has been brought out by the health experts that if the new strain does not affect the susceptibility of the virus to the vaccines developed then the efficacy of the vaccines might not get affected significantly.
Mutations are common similar to influenza:
The health experts compared this new strain with that of influenza virus infection and said that the mutations are common and just similar to that of influenza. Point is that the vaccines for influenza are altered accordingly as per the mutations and directions have been issued for its administration according to the given instructions every year. In the same way, the Covid-19 vaccine might also be altered accordingly for the sake of safety and efficacy. This was according to Mr. S. Raju, official belonging to the State Public Health Laboratory.
There is now lack of evidence to suggest that the new strain would affect the standard treatment. According to a senior official belonging to ICMR it was confirmed that there was no new protocol for the treatment till now and there was no data to decide that the new strain would need a distinct process of medications and treatment. He later spoke about how the mutations could affect the transmissibility and impact the rate of infection. He concluded that the research on other viruses in the past suggests that they adapt to prevent its extinction. Point is that it is for this reason the composition of the vaccines is altered slightly to maintain vaccine efficacy.
More number of cases:
The increase in the number of cases was shown by the mutations and this was mentioned by some public health experts and virologists. Information is that public healthcare needs to be strengthened. The severity of the infection and the rate of infection could vary depending upon the mutations of any virus. This was highlighted by Dr. K. Kolandaswamy, public health expert. He added that the public must take safety precautions without fail.
