Severe restrictions imposed in Sabarimalai: devotees !

The Mandala Pooja in Sabarimalai this year is scheduled to be conducted on 26th December and the Makara Vilakku Pooja, on 14th January 2021.

As per this schedule, the Sabarimalai Tempe Corridors were opened on Sunday (15th |November). Melsanthi Sudhir Namboodri opened the temple corridors and performed Deeparadhanai in the presence of Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru. During this time, the devotees were not allowed to enter the temple premises. The temple corridors were opened after performing special Poojas on Sunday night (15th November). After performing the special Poojas, the temple corridors were closed.

New Mesanthi Jeyaraj opened the temple corridors on Monday (16th November) early morning at 5.00 AM.  Subsequently, the devotees were allowed in with severe restrictions to have Darshan of Lord Sri Ayyappan.

As a preventive measure against the raging coronavirus pandemic spread, only the devotees who had registered online in advance were allowed inside the temple. That too, only 1000 devotees were permitted inside yesterday.

A ban has been imposed on the devotees bathing in Pampa River. However, to facilitate devotees to take bath, special bathrooms had been set up in Thiruveni.

It had already been announced that those devotees who had registered online in advance needed to bring a certificate taken 24 hours before that they did not have any coronavirus infection. Accordingly, these certificates brought by the devotees were checked at Niakkal.

For the devotees from the other states, in case the last medical check has been conducted 24 hours ahead, a separate coronavirus check was conducted on these devotees.

The devotees were permitted to climb the mountain as per the time allotted when registering. The devotees were tested with the thermal scanner in 2 stages first at Nilakkal and the second at Pampa/Valiyanadai Pandhal.

As the devotees were allowed in at lesser numbers, there were no jostling crowd of devotees and as such, they stood in long queues keeping social distancing and had Darshan of the Lord Sri Ayyappan. Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru offered Prasadam (Lords offering) on plantain leaves to the devotees.

Kerala State Government Minister Kadagampalli Rajendran had a Darshan of Lord Sri Ayyappan at 7.00 AM yesterday (Monday, 16th November) and prayed. Melsanthi Jeayaraj offered Prasadam to the minister.
