Sabarimalai Temple Corridors opened today (15th) - Devotees permitted!

The corridors of the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan Tempe were opened on Sunday evening (14th November) for the famous annual ceremony of the ‘Makara Vilakku Pooja’.

Devotees will be permitted to enter the temple premises from 16th November (Monday, today).

In the regard, the administration of the temple, Thiruvithankur Dewaswom Commission shared:

For the 62-days ‘Makara Vilakku Pooja’ scheduled to be performed at Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappan temple, Melsanthi A. K. Sudhir Namboodri lit the sacred amps in the Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple at 5.00 PM on Sunday (15th November) presided by Tantri |Kandararu Rajeevaru. The newly appointed Melsanthi V. K. Jeyaraj Potti and Maaigaipuram Mesanthi M. N. Rajkumar entered the sacred 18th step of the temple and performed prayers.

It was announced that around 85000 devotees are expected to visit the temple during the Pooja period.

Earlier, the State Government of Kerala released the Guidelines to be strictly adhered to for the devotees visiting the temple. The devotees MUST come with the certificate of NOT BEING AFFECTED BY CORONA. The devotees must have obtained this certificate 24 hours before the devotees reach the Niakkal/Pampai Basement Camps. Only up to 1000 devotees will be permitted daily to visit the temple. On Saturdays and Sundays, 2000 devotees will be permitted.

The devotees WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO STAY IN THE TEMPE COMPLEX.

It was also announced that the central government has made arrangements for conducting corona tests for the devotees at the bus termini in Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvalla,  Sengannur, and Kottayam.
