Chennai Metro City: Coronavirus Statistics! 90% recovery rate in Chennai

It is the just the 1st day after a rather long gap when high activity was reported in public places with the lockdown being removed!

As such, here is a maha-relieving note! - On a positive note, there has not been an alarming spike in the number of coronavirus cases in Chennai.

The graph prepared by Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) notes that active cases are at 11,264.

·        The city has recorded 141654 cases.

·        Of which, 127528 have recovered. The recovery rate is at 90 per cent.

·        As part of rapid testing, on 6th September, as many as 12354 persons were tested for coronavirus.

·        As many as 2,862 persons have succumbed to the viral infection.

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) today (Monday, 7th September) gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.

According to this data:

·        Anna Nagar, a containment zone has 1,254 persons contracting the virus. Kodambakkam has close to 1,221 cases. Only these two areas have more than 1,000 cases.

·        Other places with comparatively high numbers are, Adyar with 898 testing positive,  Ambattur with 830 active cases, Valsaravakkam reporting 875 active cases, Teynampet has 805 cases and Royapuram has 873 testing positive.

·        In Kodambakkam, as many as 14,521 persons have recovered and the most number of lives were claimed in Teynampet with 390 persons succumbing to the virus.  The second-highest casualty is in Anna Nagar with 323 lives being claimed by the viral infection.

·        The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 61.19 per cent of the patients are male and 38.81 per cent are female. Around 18.51 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 30-39 years.
