Alarming corona statistics in Chennai!
- As more people travel to Chennai on a daily basis, the active Covid-19 cases are increasing and stand at 13450, which is 10 per cent of the total infections.
- As many as 2,666 persons have succumbed to the disease since March.
- The city has recorded 130564 cases, of which, 114448 have recovered.
- As part of rapid testing, on 28th August, as many as 13457 persons were tested for Coronavirus.
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) released today (Friday, 28th August) an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19. Six places have more than 1,000 active cases. This data reveals:
- Kodambakkam - 1,566 persons corona-infected
- Anna Nagar, a containment zone - 1512 persons
- Ambattur - 1185 persons testing positive
- Adyar - At least 1287 persons have the virus
- Vaasarawakam - 1003 persons
- Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar - 1041 have the infection.
- The least number of active cases is in Manali with 156 testing positive.
- In Kodambakkam, as many as 13,120 persons have recovered
- The most number of lives were claimed in Teynampet with 379 persons succumbing to the virus.
Further:
- The pandemic has affected more men than women.
- As per data, 60.16 per cent of the patients are male and 39.84 per cent are female.
- Around 18.64 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 30-39 years.
