In the Chennai city, there wont be another COVID peak, cases to go down

For the last 6 days, the number of fresh Coronavirus cases in Chennai city has been close to 6000.

The highest daily discharge was witnessed on Tuesday as many as 6998 persons got discharged after getting cured from Coronavirus infection. It is worth recalling that on 1st August as many as7010 persons got discharged and this was the highest in the month of August. 

Tamil Nadu has got an average recovery rate of 85%. After 2 weeks, the active cases witnessed marginal drop. Information is the deaths have once again reached three digits after decreasing for 3 days.

On 13th August, Chennai had 989 fresh Coronavirus cases and yesterday there were as many as1270 fresh cases. From 12,287 persons undergoing treatment on 20th August, the number has increased to 13371.

From 29th June till 3rd July, Chennai city witnessed more than 2000 fresh Covid-19 infection cases is a well known fact. This peak would not be there again in the Chennai city. This was according to few experts. 

The experts were of the view that the sustained measures to bring the infection under control plus increased immunity of the people would be the reasons why Chennai would not see another peak.

As per a Virologist Dr. T. Jacob John, the numbers presently seen in Chennai are strange and the same were witnessed in Iran. Information collected is the numbers stood at the same level for a long time instead of decreasing.  

He explained the importance of doing sero-survey that would reveal atleast 20% of the population being Corona positive. He concluded that the cases in Chennai would go down.

It was mentioned by Dr. K. Kolandasamy, former director of public health that the Covid-19 graph has flattened in Chennai city. He highlighted that the fresh cases would be there for some time due to the relaxation of the lockdown.
