Reduction in the number of active COVID cases in Thiruvottiyur zone

One of the important zones belonging to north Chennai is Thiruvottiyur zone and there has been reduction in the active Covid-19 cases here. Lowest percentage of active Coronavirus cases has been reported from this zone now. On 4th August, the active cases percentage was at 12% and it reduced to 6% on Monday, 24th August.

Officials of the GCC have stated that rigorous micro-level data collection has played an important role here. Point is the zonal control centre set up in this zone to control the Coronavirus infection has been upgraded to data collection centre. 

Compilation of data from various departments like sanitary inspectors, health workers has been done here. As per a senior official belonging to the Chennai Corporation it was clear that the department now has got accurate data on the number of streets, businesses and people here.

As many as15754 persons have been identified with co-morbid conditions in this zone and around 50,000 people who are vulnerable to the infection were identified. This was mentioned by Mr. Elango Raghupathy, project head of zonal control centre. From the 12 to 14 fever camps, the number of fever camps in Thiruvottiyur zone has been increased to 18 based on the enumeration.

Mr. Elango then spoke about how for the data flow into the control centre other aspects must be taken into account. Streamlining of the reporting system for sector workers and door-to-door survey workers was carried out. Truth is the information about protocol was clearly mentioned, more people were identified with influenza like illness symptoms and taken to the fever camps.
