Downward trend in the active COVID cases in the districts in TN

Dr. T.S. Selvavinayagam, Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine highlighted the total number of active cases in TN that stood at 53,282. He added that in some districts belonging to TN a downward trend is being witnessed. 

This is a positive sign and was possible due to various safety measures taken by the government. The downward trend would continue in other districts too.

On Monday, 24th August, Chennai recorded as many as 1278 Coronavirus cases and several districts continue to report a steady number without any letdown. 

As many as 387 Covid-19 cases were reported from Coimbatore district and Chengalpet and Cuddalore districts witnessed 306 and 370 cases respectively. Districts like Salem and Kancheepuram had 273 and 226 cases respectively.

In the entire TN, Dindigul district has got the least number of active cases at 172 and Chennai has got the highest number of active cases at 13,255. In the past, Virudhunagar district reported a high number of active cases, and presently this district has 437 cases and it has controlled the infection.

As of now, the Madurai district has got less than 1000 active Corona cases. As many as 97 persons succumbed to this deadly infection yesterday and 5 out of those did not have any co-morbid conditions. 

In Chennai, there were 23 deaths and Kancheepuram had 8 deaths due to Covid-19 infection. It must be noted that a total of 6,129 patients were discharged yesterday after getting cured of the infection and in TN till now there are as many as 3,23,456 recoveries.
