COVID pandemic spreading speed has slowed down in Chennai

Fever camps in Chennai city have been successful in identifying the Coronavirus infection cases is a known fact. The latest news is GCC has got no plans to wind up these fever camps.

Fact is the speed at which the Coronavirus infection pandemic has been spreading in Chennai city has slowed down now. These fever camps in Chennai would be there for a few more months. Information is since the fever camps began in Chennai the number of persons identified with influenza like illness or ILL haven’t reduced and have remained the same.

It has been decided to continue the initiative for a few more months. This was according to an official belonging to GCC. The official added that this initiative of GCC has also won an Independence Day special award. 

In most of the zones of GCC, the spread of this infection has been stabilised. In the extended zones, various steps have been taken to control the spread of this infection.  

To prevent another outbreak, the fever camps would continue for a few more months in Chennai city. This was assured by the official.

Beginning from 8th May till 19th August, GCC has organised 35078 fever camps in the Chennai city. About 20% of Chennai`s population or 19.43 lakh people have attended these fever camps.

Out of 19.43 lakhs people, 1.12lakhs had ILI symptoms and it means about 6% of those who got screened had ILI symptoms. It must be noted that among those with such illness samples of 1.06 lakhs persons were tested till 19th of August. As many as18951 persons returned positive. 

Truth here is 17% of those who had ILI symptoms had Covid-19 infection. In Chennai, between 3rd July and 17th August as many as8858 positive cases were identified and between 10th August and 17th August 1396 positive cases were reported.
