More than 21% of Chennai population went under quarantine since March

The Coronavirus outbreak first began in Chennai city in the month of March. The truth is since then more than 21% of the population belonging to Chennai city has gone under the quarantine.

For various reasons like contacts with Covid-19 positive patients, contacts with family members of patients and for travel quarantine, as many as17.31 lakhs persons were under home quarantine and this was mentioned by a data belonging to the Chennai Corporation.

Under the home based quarantine, there are now 334,792 persons for a time of 14 days and this is out of total of 17.31 lakhs. Information is the remaining 13.64 lakhs have already completed the quarantine. 

Many fever camps are being run by the civic body and at these fever camps 20,738 persons have been identified as asymptomatic patients and this is out of total 3.34lakh persons.

It is worthy to mention here that as many as 63,101 persons were family members of Coronavirus infected persons. From 7th August to 13th August 2020, as many as 2.34lakhs persons came into the quarantine cycle. 

It was later revealed by an official belonging to GCC that more than 35,500 persons have been under home based quarantine after they had given samples for testing.

These persons would be released once their test results turn negative. For providing their samples for testing, as many as 4.56 lakhs persons have been under home quarantine. Point is this is the second highest number of persons who have been sent under home quarantine only after the contacts of the infected persons.
