In Chennai, Ambattur zone is the worst affected COVID zone

It has been confirmed that Ambattur zone in Chennai has been the worst affected of all the 15 GCC zones.

On Tuesday, for the 5th successive day, Chennai city recorded less than 1000 Coronavirus positive cases. Important information collected is till now in Chennai as many as 111054 persons have been tested positive for Coronavirus infection and as many as 97,574 persons were discharged. 

There are 11,130 persons undergoing treatment for the infection. Truth is 2350 persons have succumbed to the Coronavirus infection.

According to a senior official belonging to GCC, the civic body would continue to put efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection and to keep the number of cases below 1000.He stressed about the need for social distancing norms and wearing face masks.

He then spoke about how if a person was found to have breathlessness issues in the daily door-to-door checking by the field workers then the person would be taken to the ward level doctor immediately. 

Later, he/she would be taken to the Covid-19 ward without waiting for the tests. By this, mortality rate would be reduced. Fact is GCC has been testing more than 12,000 persons every day and this includes the persons identified with symptoms at the fever camps in Chennai. As many as 12387 persons were tested for Covid-19 infection on Monday.

The statistical data from the Chennai Corporation has shown that the number of active cases is about 10%. Of all the15 zones of GCC, Ambattur zone has got the highest rate of active cases at 23%. The number of active cases in Sholinganallur zone is 16 percent and in Alandur zone is 15 percent.

Zones like Teynampet, Tiruvottiyur, Royapuram, Tondiarpet, Madhavaram, Thiru Vi- Ka- Nagar have less than 10% of active Corona cases. The Teynampet zone has a mortality rate of 3.01% and as many as346 deaths were reported here.
