On Sunday, Kodambakkam had highest fever camp visitors

On Sundays, Chennai city is in a complete lock down state. The lock down restrictions have now prevented many people from going to the fever camps in Chennai on Sunday and the average number fell by 37% yesterday.

It must not be forgotten that over the last 3 months in Chennai the number of people visiting the fever camps was 57 and on Saturday, 8th August, the total number of attendees was 24,208. It has been said by the officials that on Sunday, 9th August the number fell to 14,445 with an average of 36 persons. When compared to 1505 influenza like illness or ILI cases that have been identified on Saturday, there were just 1072 ILI cases on Sunday.

The officials have revealed that Kodambakkam registered 54 persons per fever camp and Ambattur registered 47. The most fever camp visitors for the day was recorded in Kodambakkam. From Thiru Vi- Ka –Nagar, the highest number of ILI cases were reported. 

The Teynampet and Tondiarpet zones had the largest number of fever camps conducted. In the Anna Nagar and Ambattur fever camps yesterday, there were fewer visitors.

The civic body workers have highlighted that the complete lock down was responsible for the low visitors at the fever camps on Sunday. From 501 fever camps, Sunday had just 401 fever camps and this is expected to rise on Monday. 

Fact is between 8th May and 9th August the GCC had collected swab samples of as many as 92,485 persons from 30,152 fever camps. About 17.1lakh Chennai residents were screened for Covid-19 infection. In the Chennai city, till now, as many as 98,009 ILI cases have been identified.

In certain zones such as Tondiarpet, Royapuram and Thiruvottriyur etc, the percentage of symptomatic cases has been high. In the past 3 months of time, the highest number of swabs has been collected from the Tondiarpet zone.
