Rakshabandhan is celebrated with great enthusiasm today (Monday, 5th August) all over India honoring brotherhood!

The celebrated relationship of brother-sister is akin to 2 flowers blooming on the same stem! Born of the same mother, and growing up together, with great affection and some tiffs as well during this growing up period, the occasion of Rakshabandhan helps strengthen this divine relationship of brother-sister and marks as an occasion to cherish!

Rakshabandhan is celebrated on the day of the Full Moon during the Tamil Calendar month of Aavani with the significance of the sister praying for the protection, good health, and well-being of their beloved brothers.

The sisters tie the yellow thread or ‘Rakhi’ on the wrists of their brothers and those they consider as brothers and pray. After tying the ‘Rakhi’, they perform ‘Aarathi’for the well-being, long-life and good health for their brothers and apply the Aarathi thilak on the foreheads of the brothers.

Though Rakshabandhan occurs every year and the age advances, the intense bond of affection between the sister-brother never diminishes!
