On Friday, 31st July 2020, the number of daily Coronavirus cases has come to 1,013, closer to the 3 digit mark. It is known that for the last few weeks, the daily Coronavirus cases stabilized around the 1,200 mark.

In the first week of July, there were as many as 2,400 Corona cases in Chennai and since this date, the number of cases has dropped and the COVID-19 growth rate has been low. The active cases have fallen to just 12.7 % and the number of people who have recovered has increased from 60% to 85% now.

Important fact is out of 99,794 people with Coronavirus infection as many as 84,916 got discharged and 12,765 are undergoing treatment. In the first week of July, most people who were diagnosed with Coronavirus infection have been discharged now. It must be taken into note that the present active cases are those who have tested positive in the last week.

It was mentioned by an official that most of the cases were mild to moderate and these cases were diagnosed at the fever camps or contact tracing. These patients are being kept in the care centers for 4 to 7 days and would be sent home when they become stable with the condition that they would quarantine themselves for 14 days.

Till now, the condition of the patients has not deteriorated after they were sent home from the care centers. This was as per some officials of the corporation. The discharged patients have been monitored by the door-to-door survey staff. This staff makes sure the condition of the discharged patients doesn’t go down alarmingly.

Active cases of below 10% or less have been reported in the GCC zones like Manali, Teynampet, Tondiarpet, and Royapuram zones. There are 6 zones in GCC that have a recovery rate above 85%.
