In Chennai, active COVID cases have reduced to 156 per lakh population from 167 per lakh population

The city of Chennai has got more than 97000 Coronavirus cases already and is slowly inching towards one lakh cases. The superb piece of information now is the active cases incidence has gone down to 156 per lakh population from 167 per lakh population.

It is very clear from the data from GCC that as on Wednesday morning out of a total of 96,438 active cases just 12,852 were active. This corresponds to 156 active cases per lakh population. The data also mentioned that on 24th July 2020 there were 167 active cases per population in Chennai city. It must be noted that Chennai city has got a population of around 82.16 lakhs

In the initial stages of Coronavirus pandemic, zones like Royapuram and Tondiarpet were worst affected when compared to the other zones belonging to GCC. They have the lowest active case incidence of 93 lakh per population and 108 lakh per population respectively. 

Tondiarpet zone has got a population of 6.77 lakhs and the number of active cases here is 634. Royapuram zone has a population of 7.45lakhs and the number of active cases is 808.

Of all the GCC zones, Ambattur zone has 21% active cases and other zones have less than 20% active cases. Anna Nagar. Teynampet and Kodambakkam are the three important hotspots in Chennai. 

Fact is active cases in the above said hotspots are 13%, 10% and 16% respectively. It is worthy to mention here that the population in Anna Nagar is 7.24 lakhs and in Teynampet is 9.06 lakhs. 

Kodambakkam has got 8.78 lakhs population. Kodambakkam has an active case incidence of 209 and Anna Nagar has an active case incidence of 201. Information is Valasaravakkam has got the highest active case incidence per population and it is 258 (there are 1005 active cases against 3.89 populations in Valasaravakkam).
