There has been a gradual dip in the number of active Coronavirus cases in Chennai city. There has been a rise in the number of recovered patients in Chennai. This peculiar trend of Covid-19 cases in Chennai is interesting.

The peak hasn’t got over yet. This was according to some officials. The officials want to wait for some more time before making a clear statement. It is now said that there is an indication that the number of fresh or new cases would stabilize in the coming days. It is known that at present in Chennai more than 1000 new cases of Covid-19 infection gets reported.

Chennai Corporation commissioner Mr. G. Prakash was of the view that the case count would have to show a steady decline. As per Mr. P. Madhusudhan Reddy, Joint Commissioner for health, in any instance of epidemiology there would not be a single peak.

He hinted that the present phase could be a ‘lull’ or a temporary interval without any activity. He concluded that one should not assume that the curve is getting flattened. In the coming weeks, there would be ramping up of the economic activity substantially and the testing capacity would also increase. The infrastructure for testing would have to be improved substantially due to increased testing at the private labs and at the government labs.

Data has been compiled for the 6fortnights between 12th May and 21ST July 2020. The number of recovered cases has gone up in the last fortnight that is from 7th July to 21st July. In this last fortnight there has been relaxation in the intense lockdown is known. Active cases tally went down by 9000.

It was later revealed by Mr. Madhusudhan Reddy that zones like Anna Nagar, Teynampet and Kodambakkam had one-third of Chennai population and hence had a higher proportion of active cases.
