Prospects for medium rains in Northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there is a prospect for medium rains in a few places due to the phenomenon of thermal convection in Tamil Nadu’s northern coastal districts today (Sunday, 5th July).

In this regard, the official from the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre explained:

“Due to the thermal convection rain phenomenon, there are prospects for mild to medium rains in 1 or 2 places in the Tamil Nadu State northern coastal districts today (Sunday, 5th July).

As regards the Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain partly cloudy. There are prospects for mild rains in a few parts of the city.”

Record of rainfall: As at 3.30 PM on Saturday, 4th July, the recorded rainfall in areas in mm - Chengalpattu District Maamallapuram - 70, Thirukkazhunkundram - 60, Madhranthakam, Thiruvannamalai District Vandavasi - 50 each, Thirupathur, Pudhukkottai District, Perungalur, Chengalpattu District Sathyabhama University Thanjavur District’  Pattukkottai, Erode District Perunthurai - 40 mm each.”

Warning for fishermen: Strong winds at high speeds from 40 kmph to 50 kmph will blow in the areas of Central west Bay of Bengal, the ocean zones of the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, and the Coimbatore district. So, the fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea for fishing on 5th July, Sunday.

In a similar trend, cyclonic winds at high speeds of 45 kmph to 55 kmph are likely to blow in the central east Arabian Sea, and Southwest and central west Arabian Sea. So, the fishermen are warned not to venture fishing in these areas.
