India first online BSc degree programme to be offered by IIT Madras

Over the years, IIT M or Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has earned a reputation as the top educational institutions in India. Now, IIT Madras has announced that it would be offering an online BSc degree programme in Programming and Data Science. This would be the first time ever an Indian educational institute would be offering a BSc degree programme online for the students.
BSc programme would be open to anyone who has passed class 12 with English and Maths at class 10- level and has enrolled in any on-campus UG programme. Students who would be completing their class 12 in 2020 would be eligible for this latest course from IITM. This programme would be superb for the graduates as well as for the working professionals.
It is worthy to note that this new online BSc programme was launched in the presence of Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union minister of HRD and Mr Sanjay Dhotre, minister of state for HRD, Communications, Electronics and IT, online.
By the year 2026, the course Data Science would be creating 11.5 million jobs and is one of the fastest-growing sectors. It is now pointed out that online education is a trend that is rapidly embraced for high-quality education on a large scale.
Director of IIT Madras, Mr Bhaskar Ramamurthy expressed his thoughts about this new online BSc degree programme. He said that students who have currently enrolled in a different on-campus programme anywhere in India would be able to pursue this new programme without switching their careers or courses.
