In the last one week, Chennai did not receive any rains. Yesterday, Sunday, 28th June, Chennai city had light to moderate rains and it brought huge relief for the residents. Many places in Chennai received sporadic rains yesterday. Upper air circulation or UAC has been the real reason for the rains in the city of Chennai yesterday.

On Monday, the weather conditions would continue and Chennai would have light to moderate rains. The moisture from the rain would be responsible for any increase in the humidity. This was brought out by Mr. S. Balachandran, director of RMD, Chennai.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature recorded in places like Nungambakkam (minimum temperature 29.6 degrees Celsius) and Meenambakkam (minimum temperature 28 degrees Celsius) was 35 degrees Celsius and 35.4 degrees Celsius respectively. While Nungambakkam recorded 17mm rains Meenambakkam recorded 6.2 mm of rains yesterday.

According to popular weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John, Chennai could gear up for stronger rainfall and this could be due to an increase in the steering wind conditions. He added that as the day went on the increase in the heat would help the rains in north TN including Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, and Chengalpet. There would be rains in other districts like Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Tirupattur, Salem, Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri.
