Airlines increase the ticket fares from Chennai to Mumbai, Delhi etc, uploads in website

Posted on: 21/May/2020 10:04:57 AM
For one way travel between Chennai to Delhi and Chennai to Mumbai, flight passengers have to shell out Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000. Shocking isn’t it!!

The latest fares have been uploaded by the airlines and online travel websites. This took place soon after the civil aviation ministry have announced that flights would be operated from 25th May.

Point here is this uploading of high fares resulted in controversy and the airlines removed the fares and have not uploaded fresh fares for travel from 25th May to 31st May 2020. It must be taken into account that the high fares were removed at 10:45 pm. The people who were waiting to book flights to reach their homes and work places were shocked by this.

It is now revealed that the fares that were available for booking flights were equivalent to the one way ticket fare to Europe and USA before the shut down came into force. For the one way travel from Chennai to almost all the major cities between 25th May and 31st May, fares were above Rs 15,000. Information collected is the cheapest fare on Mumbai route was Rs 11,000 on 27th May and for the rest of the days till 1st June portals were showing high fares.

From 1st of June 2020, the flight fares were not high and flights from Chennai to Delhi from 1st June onwards were in the range of Rs 5000 to Rs 7000. From Thursday morning only, the civil aviation ministry had allowed the airlines to start booking but the fares were uploaded and displayed with an option to book on Wednesday night itself before getting removed.

Airlines wanted to make use of most of the initial rush so high fares were uploaded. Booking was supposed be from Thursday morning only. This has been pointed out by Mr. D. Sudhakara Reddy.
