RTOs in TN started to issue driving licences, LLR etc now

After being closed during the lock down period, the 150 odd Regional Transport Offices or RTO across Tamil Nadu are now buzzing with activities. On Monday, 18th May, RTO`s in TN have started to issue learner licences or LLR, driving licences and RC or vehicle registration certificates etc to the people.
For the purpose of taking up the driving tests at the RTO’s or to get the paper work done, prior appointments through VAHAN portal of the government is compulsory.
As per Tenkasi S. Jawahar, the State Transport Commissioner, all the documents that were issued by the state transport department that were valid on 1st February would continue to remain valid till 30th June. He added that for the sake of fresh applications the counters have been opened now.
He then highlighted about the importance of social distancing and hand washing and said all social distancing norms were followed in all the RTO’s. Mr. Jawahar added that PPE and hand sanitizers were provided to all the officials and to the visitors.
It was on the 21st of March all the RTO`s across TN were shut down. Important piece of information is every day in TN on an average more than 5000 licences and LLR`s are issued to the people.
