This new market at Thiruvanmiyur is grabbing the attention

It has been more than 2 weeks since the vegetable market at Thiruvanmiyur was closed after a vendor tested Corona virus positive.
The latest news is Chennai Corporation has reopened the market at Thiruvanmiyur again now on Wednesday, 20th May 2020. The locals are happy about this but they want more safety measures to be taken at this new market.
Along the eastern as well as on the northern side of the Marundeeswarar temple tank, the authorities belonging to the civic body have erected temporary stalls and set shops. It must be noted that in the open space opposite to the temple near the old market complex on the ECR few shops have been set up.
In a complex opposite to the famous Marundeeswarar temple, the previous market functioned and the market had as many as 106 shops are known.
In the new arrangement, there are 73 shops that would be selling fruits and veggies that is 37 shops on the mada streets and 37 shops near the old market. This was according to an official belonging to GCC. From morning 6 am till 7 pm in the evening, the shops at the new market in Thiruvanmiyur would be opened.
From the old market, the vendors have been brought in and operations of the market would be supervised. Social distancing is very important now to prevent the spread of corona virus infection and it is said that the barricades would separate each stall here and each shop would have just 3 or 4 people.
